The wave of improvements continues, this time with the addition of a new texturing-regularization task processing option. This required a fair amount of research, but is finally available on Lightning. 🔥
Background
Images are often captured with a wide range of exposures. Even if the camera's exposure settings are fixed, cloud cover can impact the amount light that reaches the camera sensor between shots. LGT deals with this problem by adjusting the exposures of each image to achieve a seamless orthomosaic. The amount of adjustment is a parameter that has been historically hand-tuned and fixed.
However not all datasets are made equal and sometimes fixed parameters don't work well enough. When exposures are wildly different, the software might erroneusly over-adjust and create unwanted results:

In other datasets the opposite is also true; when only a few images are over/under exposed, the software can end up under-adjusting and leaving some unpleaseant patches.
Dynamic Regularization
Instead of applying a fixed amount of color adjustments, LGT can now dynamically compute the optimal amount of correction by iteratively evaluate a wide range of parameters, leading to more stable gradients and more accurate results:

In the near future dynamic regularization will be enabled by default. For now, as a new feature, to improve exposure balance in your orthophotos, you can try to set texturing-regularization to dynamic. Please let me know if you encounter any issues.
Enjoy!
